Bluewater Family Support Services is looking for couples interested in providing foster care for children that have experienced complex developmental trauma. Bluewater has developed a non-restraint program that is designed to be intensive, short-term and skill-based.
The planned program outcomes are:
a) Returning children to their family of origin; or
b) Readying children for family living in the community.
We are looking for applicants that can combine knowledge gained from education in human services with skills acquired through formal education or employment experience for use in a family home setting. Applicants that become successful care providers will be supported by the Bluewater Family Support Services team of social workers and support workers.
Bluewater’s team has supported the private foster care of extraordinary children since 1982.
a) One of the applicant couple must have an education in the human services field, preferably in Child and Youth Care;
b) Valid Ontario Driver’s License(s);
c) A willingness to participate in a home study to qualify as a foster parent;
d) Ability to meet all requirements to be eligible to qualify to provide private foster care in Ontario; and
e) A willingness to participate in Bluewater’s pre-service training and ongoing in-service professional development.
